The Fear That Haunts Our Relationships
As Halloween approaches, we’re surrounded by things that are meant to frighten us — but the scariest things in life don’t come from a haunted house or horror movie. They come from the fear of losing the relationships that mean the most to us.
Often, it’s our fear of losing control—over a situation, a person, or an outcome—that drives our behavior. That fear can sneak into our words and actions, turning genuine care into subtle manipulation. We hold on too tightly, try to control too much, and in doing so, end up slowly pushing away the very people we’re afraid to lose.
But the antidote to fear isn’t control… it’s authenticity.
Being real—honest, humble, and vulnerable—builds trust. Authenticity creates connection, while manipulation slowly breaks it down.
When we choose to shift from fear to authenticity in our relationships, it will make a difference.
