Take A Guess
A lack of customer service is my pet peeve. I know it is not unique and that people deal with it everyday, but it still ticks me off. I am a believer in taking care of those you serve. Recently, I experienced both ends of that spectrum. We are customers of a company (who we will call A) that provides a particular service at our home. We found ourselves needing A to be a bit flexible and help us with a situation that arose.
It was a small ask and required nothing outside of their contract. What we got was inflexibility and a refusal to meet our needs.
Later, I realized we had another issue and needed to contact a company (who we will call B) for service. I called B and explained our plight. I was met with kindness, understanding and an attitude of willingness to come help us with our service needs.
Maya Angelou said, “People may not remember what you say or do but they will remember how you made them feel.” Company A left me feeling frustrated and underserved. Company B left me feeling appreciative of their response and that our needs mattered.
Guess which company I am actively looking to replace and which one I am singing the praises of to others?
It is important to remember that no matter what the task, relationships matter. A little kindness goes a long way. Choose to lead with an emphasis on customer service and you will make a difference.
