Lovey
She is a young “Lovey,” which is her nickname, because she refuses to be called “grandma”. She recently retired after a career as an educator, school counselor and much more. It would have been easy for her to prop her feet up, spend all of her time with her precious newborn grandson and enjoy her retirement.
She chose a different route. While continuing to love and invest in her family, this leader is determined to do more. She decided to use this season of her life to continue her legacy of purpose. She is standing up a not-for-profit aimed at serving children and youth who are volatile, at risk or have special needs.
She has been investing in children and youth for years and has given countless hours taking children in need to get proper care, counsel and most importantly, love. I have never seen a person more driven to give and care for those who are hurting.
After investing so many years giving and serving and loving these kids in need, I asked her: “How can you keep going?” She looked at me and said, “How can I not?”
How can we not give when there are so many around us hurting, confused and in need?
What is it that drives you?
I think “Lovey” is the perfect nickname for this leader who is living a legacy of love. Thank you, Kim, (aka Lovey), you are making a difference!
