Different Perspectives

I had a change of perspective the other day, literally. A friend who is a seasoned leader (and pilot) flew me in his plane to the beautiful Florida-Alabama coast. Seeing this amazing line of beaches from the sky brings a new perspective.

It made me think that perhaps I should begin looking at other things from a new perspective. Maybe I need to step back and evaluate the relationships that are important to me. Maybe I should examine how I respond to others, especially when they have a different view than mine.

It’s easy to behave as if our perspective is always right. It takes a bit of humility to realize that we can learn from and respect opinions that differ from ours.

My flight perspective allowed me to see firsthand the precious volatility of the coastline.  Likewise, I will be aware of the treasured value found in gaining understanding and insight from others.

When we respect the perspective of others, we will make a difference.
