Beating The Odds
What does it take to make it in this world? What does it take to overcome the overwhelming odds against you? She knows. She should have been another victim. She should be just another sad story of a person who was dealt a life of difficulty and hard experiences. Things certainly seemed to be headed in that direction for her. As the prison door closed, she found herself alone in her cell and realized that the choice was hers.
Fast-forward to today and Kenya will tell you that was the moment that changed her life. She will tell you that she used her time in prison to literally change the direction of her life. Her life continued to be difficult. There was no magic dust that rescued her from her choices or from her environment. But she chose to fight and change her life. She found a faith that served to bolster her and give her the hope she desperately needed.
Meet Kenya Congress. She is an entrepreneur who is growing a business that is franchised across our state. More than that, she is a wonderful mother, wife and leader. She also is committed to leading her community through giving to those who are struggling.
