The Fast Food Leader

The restaurant was busy at lunch time and was understaffed. She worked hard and kept smiling, thanking customers for their patience. This employee, with life’s struggles written on her face, refused to allow a difficult work environment to define her attitude. Making something close to minimum wage, she continued to serve and take care of her customers as if each one truly mattered.

In a world of personal agendas and political correctness, serving others seems to be a low priority for many. We get caught up in our own needs and wants and lose sight of the plight of those around us. We believe that we are entitled to have our way, when and how we desire. It appears that our culture is becoming more rude and self-serving with each passing day.

I asked this leader behind the counter how she kept such a wonderful attitude. She replied, I believe it is my opportunity to speak a little kindness and do my best to take care of others. What a strong reminder; leadership is not about myself! It is about serving others.

Choose to find opportunities to speak a little kindness into the lives of others and you will make a difference.
