Thankful

Do certain things annoy you to no end? Do you have things that just get on your nerves? I do. One of the things that I find truly frustrating is when I see blatant acts of ingratitude (I’m not even sure if that’s a word). I know it’s been a hard year, and at times it may seem very difficult to find something to be thankful for. However, I believe that we can always find something in our lives to be grateful for- even the smallest acts of kindness and service deserve our notice and appreciation.

I heard an incredible communicator put it like this, “Arrogance and ingratitude live under the same rock.” I totally agree. When someone refuses to humble themselves and show gratitude, it is a sure indication that person is thinking selfishly. As we turn the corner and head towards this Christmas season, let’s take a minute and make sure we are showing gratitude to those around us.

When I actually got to thinking about all of the things I have to be thankful for, my list was incredibly long. It began with the Reason for Christmas. I am thankful that Someone chose to come to Earth and show unconditional love to all of mankind.

And the list goes on: I am thankful for the incredible family with which I am blessed, I am thankful for a group of incredibly gifted individuals who allow me to work with them on a daily basis. I am thankful for friends who are like family. I am thankful for the opportunity to live in a country where we still can choose our leaders. I am thankful for the beauty that I get to see every day when I walk outside. I am thankful for the servant leaders who continue to care for those that have contracted the horrible disease called COVID-19. I am thankful for those who continue to give medical support and care for all other types of illnesses, as well. I am thankful for those who give their lives to protect our country. I could go on and on.

What are you thankful for? I challenge you today not to put your gratitude under a rock, but instead find someone, somewhere to give a small thank you- a nod, a wave, a smile, a quick text message – let them know that you appreciate who they are and what they do. Choose not to hide your gratitude under a rock, and you will make a difference.
