Take This Moment
A member of our military was walking down a hall in the Pentagon where she worked, away from her office and towards a different wing. That's when it happened. Lisa saw a plane descend and crash into the exact place where she had been standing just minutes before. The explosion was indescribable. She soon discovered that friends, coworkers and the General that she supported at the Pentagon had been killed in the terrorist attack. That tragedy occurred on September 11th 2001 over 20 years ago.
Despite dealing with the triggers that cause her to relive that horrible moment, there are truths that she has garnered. I recently had the opportunity to talk with Lisa, who is now an executive at a large corporation. She told me that living through the terrorist attacks on September 11th showed her that she is not always in control of what happens in life. She told me, “We never know what today will bring, so try to live in the moment. Make the most of every day, because you don’t get any re-do’s in life."
These are things we all know, and that we all forget. Thank you, Lisa, for your service to our country and for challenging us to not forget to embrace each moment as precious.
Take this moment to say, "I love you" to someone you care about. Take this moment to say, "I’m sorry" to someone you owe an apology. Take this moment and allow yourself to experience life in a way that is unique to you.
Take this moment to make a difference in the lives of those love, live with and lead.
