Surround Yourself

There’s a key component to having successful relationships and finding success in life. If I want to understand who you are, I will look at your relationships. I’ll notice who you choose to spend time with, who you engage with, and where you invest your energy. I’ll pay attention to how you develop relationships, and why. I’ll look at where you spend your time and with whom.

The secret to living a successful life isn’t based on financial measurements. It’s not centered on wealth, fame, or glory. A fulfilled life is built on the relationships we develop. Those who squander their time on self-centered greed often find themselves empty and alone when it really matters. Those who choose to look out only for themselves will never experience the joy or depth of strong, meaningful relationships.

My goal in life has been to surround myself with people who are smarter, wiser, more talented, and better than I am. I want to learn from them, grow because of them, and pass along the lessons they’ve taught me. The people I’m closest to are the ones who constantly remind me of the importance of giving back. They are people who make me better, and I hope I can do the same for them.

Life is short. And your life will be more meaningful, fulfilling, and impactful when you choose to live it alongside others. Whose life can you speak into today? Who do you need to invest in—who needs your time or energy? Look beyond your own needs and desires, and give of yourself to someone you care about.

When we surround ourselves with people who are givers and not just takers, we will make a difference.
