She Leads with Respect and Humility

When talking with people of all walks of life, I have learned that there are traits that generally tell much about the person’s character and leadership. One is how they feel about those who love them and have contributed to their formative years of life. Show me a person who can speak positively about their loved ones and I will show you a person who understands the importance of respect.

Another trait is that the person is not afraid to admit his/her failures. No one likes a know-it-all and no one wants to hear from someone who is never wrong. Having the ability to own and learn from your mistakes is a powerful tool for leading and loving others. All of us fail. There are those who willingly recognize failure as a learning opportunity and there are those who deny their faults or refuse to learn from their mistakes. Show me someone who chooses to learn from their failures and I’ll show you a person who understands the value of humility.

I recently met a young leader who holds both of these crucial traits. She demonstrated a thankful heart when she spoke of her parents and grandparents and the influence they had and continue to have in her life. She then told of how she had failed and the lessons she learned from those failures.

Her name is Katie Britt and she is one of the most successful young leaders in our state and maybe the country. She has sat with national leaders and served as chief of staff to one of the most influential leaders in our nation. She has accomplished more at this stage of her life than seems possible. Katie currently serves as President of a prominent business organization that yields international influence and impact.

Take a few minutes to listen to her story by clicking the link below or going to our podcast entitled Crossing The Line.

This unique young woman is leading with incredible competency and courage. All the while, she remembers those who have invested in her life. She also recognizes the great value in gaining lessons from the failures she has encountered.

When we choose to lead like Katie Britt with respect and humility, we will make a difference!
