Second Chances

I’m a believer in second chances and even third sometimes. With the new year beginning, it’s the perfect time to take advantage of a second chance. I recently heard a leader say, “I’m glad that I don’t lead like I once did. I’ve made a lot of mistakes in my past, but I don’t have to live there.” I think we can all relate to his comments.

While the past is important, it should never drive our future. Learning from our mistakes and creating new and different experiences is what differentiates good leaders from poor ones. Taking the opportunity to live looking forward is not a skill, it is a choice. It may be uncomfortable and even difficult, but it is essential if we are going to grow as leaders, or as humans for that matter.

2021 was filled with good and bad experiences. Let’s choose to look back long enough to learn and then press forward in order to lead and love better.

Choose to enter 2022 with gratitude for lessons learned plus a determination to grow and you will make a difference.

Happy New Year!
