Pipo

We had the opportunity to travel to Europe recently. We visited the Sagrada Famalia, an enormous cathedral in Barcelona, Spain, that has been under construction for literally hundreds of years, and they are not done yet! It was a beautiful cathedral with a rich history and a legacy of devotion and faith by those who built it and worshiped there. But my most fond memory is not of the building, but it is of Pipo. He was the young man who was responsible for touring us through the cathedral.

Pipo had a contagious energy for sharing the wonder and glorious stories that surround the Sagrada Famalia. His love for the cathedral was evident and his desire to share his love with us was inspiring. As we got to know Pipo we discovered that he was not from Spain, he was from Egypt. He has been through things in his life that none of us could understand or even fully appreciate. His journey had molded him into a passionate and authentic person who loved to share his love with others.

I left our time with Pipo wondering how I approach each day of my life. Our time is certainly limited on this planet. Do I  approach each day as an opportunity to share my passion, my joy, or my love with those around me? What do I bring into the lives of those I truly care about?

We get to choose how we treat others. We get to choose how we approach each day, hour, and moment of our lives. While I am aware that the journey of life is hard, it is also full of opportunities.

Let’s look for the moments to encourage each other, to share our passion and our love with those around us. I promise when we approach others with the enthusiasm that Pipo has, we will make a difference.
