Never Forget…
If you were old enough to remember, you know just where you were on Tuesday, September 11th, 2001. You remember the images, the disbelief, and the realization that our world had changed. Nearly 3,000 lives were lost that day, mothers and fathers, husbands and wives, sons and daughters, friends and coworkers. Today, we remember them, we honor the families who carried unimaginable loss, and we give thanks for the heroes who ran toward danger, both those who survived and those who gave their lives trying to save others.
September 11th reminded us that evil exists in our world. It always has, and it always will. But evil does not have to win. That day and in the days that followed, we witnessed something stronger: love, hope, courage, determination, perseverance, sacrifice, and faith. We watched strangers help strangers and a nation put aside differences to care for one another. In some of our darkest moments, we were reminded of the extraordinary good that lives within ordinary people.
America is not perfect, but she is made up of people who know how to come together, how to love, how to persevere, how to get back up, and how to fight for freedom. May we never lose that ability. Perhaps one of the greatest ways we can honor those who lost their lives is to remember that every day counts and how we treat each other matters. Love your family. Help your neighbor. Choose kindness over division. Be grateful for the freedoms we enjoy and for those who have sacrificed to protect them.
May we honor the victims, remember the families, and never forget the heroes of September 11th. May we never take for granted the freedom that came at such a great cost, and may we always believe that love, hope, perseverance, and faith are stronger than evil. When we shift from taking our freedom for granted to living with gratitude and purpose we will make a difference.
