It Makes You Feel Better
We recently visited a resort hotel to celebrate family birthdays. With the recent shortage of labor and the “great resignation,” I was very skeptical about the level of service that we would experience. It didn’t take long for that skepticism to turn into amazement. I witnessed people working hard to provide excellence in their jobs. I received warm smiles and an authentic desire to help make our stay enjoyable.
The result of this establishment’s superior customer care was that each of us felt it. We felt the difference between poor apathetic service and sincere “go-the-extra-mile” attention from the team. We could literally feel the work that went into providing excellent facilities, grounds and staff. The way each employee made us feel assured that we would not soon forget our experience. They made us feel better.
This is not an advertisement for getting away to a resort. It is a reminder that our words and behavior have an effect on others. Our attitude and mood impacts those around us. We control how we approach those around us. We have the ability to either offer authentic care or unwanted apathy.
What if we looked at our significant relationships as opportunities to provide excellent “customer service”?
When we offer authentic care to those around us, they will feel better and we will make a difference.
