Head & Heart

How are you? With all of the transition and lack of clarity surrounding us, it is no wonder that I get a wide range of answers when I ask this question. It is obvious that many are struggling, both professionally and personally. These are strange times that drain our emotional and mental capabilities.

Are you struggling to connect with those around you? Do you feel isolated? Are you experiencing anxiety over how your life is going? Do you find yourself working more and accomplishing less? Tap into your self-awareness skills and assess your head and your heart.

I challenge you to try a couple of things. First, determine not to allow your circumstances to define you. Remember that it is during difficult days that character is revealed and leadership muscles are grown. Stay true to your core values no matter the situation.

Second, look for ways to give. When we focus outward, instead of inward, it can yield renewed energy. Make a habit of looking for someone you can serve with no agenda other than to help. It may be as small as a kind word or a note of appreciation.

Choose to work on your head and your heart by remembering who you are and by giving to others. When you do you will make a difference.
