Baron’s Grace
She was confused. The death of her long time husband had taken its toll on this elderly lady. I watched as she arrived at a shop for an appointment that she didn’t have. The owner gave no indication that there was a problem. He took care of his client with patience and respect even though it meant that he had to do extra work to accommodate her.
Later, I asked him why he went the extra mile for this mixed up customer. He said, “She has had a hard time since her husband’s death. This is a place where she feels at home and safe. I just made it work.”
This entrepreneur understands what it means to put relationship over rules. He chose to offer grace when he could have sent her away. It is no wonder that his business is flourishing and his reputation is incredible.
As we jump back into the normal routines of our fast paced lives, let’s take a page from this business owner’s playbook. Take the time to invest in those that you encounter each day. A kind word, demonstrating patience instead of frustration, a genuine act of gratitude… The way we treat others matters.
Thank you Baron for reminding me of the importance of treating others well. Choose to show authentic care to those in your life and you will make a difference.
