Avoiding the Rocks

We recently went on a kayak adventure down a river located in a rainforest. There were rapids; underwater rocks along with a bit of easy floating. I am less than a novice at kayaking so the small rapids were just enough to challenge my water skills. The rocks however were a different story. We were on the river with friends who had navigated the river previously and I quickly learned an important lesson. When we followed our friends, we avoided getting stuck on the hidden rocks.

Knowing who to follow in life can keep you from getting stuck on the rocks of bad decisions that damage your leadership. Dave Campion is someone who has earned the right to be followed. He leads a large aerospace high tech organization but that is not why you should pay attention to him. Dave leads in a unique way. He understands the importance of leading with your head and your heart.

Dave devotes time to building trust and transparency in his leadership. He understands the importance of accountability but realizes that it begins with honest empathy for those he leads. It is amazing how he has led his organization through a change in leadership and direction. But even more compelling is his life journey commitment to build trusting relationships all around him.

Take a few minutes to listen in on our Crossing the Line interview with Dave. Invest the time to follow his lead, it will make a difference.
