Wonderfulness
You would never know it, because of his low-key, humble demeanor. This seasoned veterinarian has an incredible large animal practice that spans across the southeastern US. But there is more to this leader. Darrel has a passion that surpasses his love for his job. He loves to cook. That may sound like a benign hobby, but it defines the very character of this leader.
Darrel uses his love for cooking to give and serve others. Fortunately, I have been the recipient of his culinary excellence and can attest to what drives him to give so much to those around him. He rises early and prepares a wonderful, made from scratch breakfast. He then serves it to you with a warm smile and hot cup of coffee. Next thing you know, he is preparing one of his delicious dinners that generally centers on the grill and an indescribable sauce that melts in your mouth. He works tirelessly to produce an experience of wonderfulness each time he cooks.
That is what leadership looks like. It looks like a leader who gives because he truly cares about those around him. It looks like a leader who is not afraid to work hard and serve others with excellence.
Darrel is living a legacy of leading by putting others first. It is a great reminder for all of us that true leadership begins with service. Choose to lead by giving to those around you and you will make a difference.
