It’s the Holiday Season & I’m Stressed
I made the mistake of doing a bit of research on holiday stress. The results were… well…stressful. Take a look at some of what I found:
72% of Americans feel stressed during the holiday season.
The number one cause of stress is lack of time followed by lack of money.
60% of people are worried about money during the holidays.
49% are worried about finding gifts.
45% are worried about family gatherings.
45% are worried about traveling.
57% report physical symptoms of stress during the holidays.
40% report a decline in their mental health.
Studies show that heart attacks and other cardiovascular issues increase during the holidays.
So let me get this straight — over $900 billion dollars will be spent this holiday season so that we can increase our stress and decrease our physical and mental health. What is wrong with this picture?
What if we did something different this year? What if we took charge of our stress instead of letting it control us?
