More Important Than Being Right
Have you ever met someone who has to be right all the time? They believe they have all the correct answers and the best way to do everything. Simply put, they’re exhausting to be around.
I recently had an interaction with someone like this. Throughout our conversation, it was clear how much he valued his own knowledge—and how little he valued mine.
His ego and arrogance reminded me of something a wise leader once said:
“Those who build strong relationships understand that getting the right result is more important than always being right.”
The right result is about building collaborative, trusting, and respectful relationships with those around us. When we constantly need to be right, we erode connection. But when we stay curious, listen well, and remain open to others, we make space for their voice—and their value.
Ask yourself: Is it more important for me to be right, or to get the right result?
When we choose to not always be the smartest person in the room, we will make a difference.
